When the sun is out in London, there is an euphoric feeling that goes across the city. In London, we don’t wait for temperatures to reach 25 degrees to go outside and enjoy the weather. It might not be the most sunny capital of all, it’s definitely one of the best to make the most of the weather with many spacious terraces and outdoor spaces.

Here is my selection of the best terraces in London. Check out the map at the end of the page to check what’s the nearest one from you!

The Lido Café is the Café by the Brockwell Lido. They serve excellent breakfasts by the pool. Probably the best terrace to enjoy a proper summer vibe in London. Unfortunately, if you want to go to the pool you’ll have to queue.. Shame!

The Founders Arms is one of my favourite terraces in London. Best place for a drink by the river and a gorgeous view on St Paul’s and The City. It’s a great terrace during the summer but also very enjoyable during colder days behind the big windows.

Located by the canal and more precisely near Little Venice, the Waterway is one of those busy places during sunny days in London. A great terrace for a few glasses of wine  or dinner in a festive atmosphere.

How not to include this famous rooftop in my list of my best terraces in London? Located in Peckham, the new cool part of London, Frank’s Cafe offers a super spacious rooftop with a view over the whole east. Highly recommended.

Somerset House is famous for hosting cultural events, including the Fashion Week, but it’s also a great spot to enjoy the weather. Weather it’s in the chic courtryard or at the back, by the terrasse, where you can have a view on London Eye, it’s definitely worth checking.

An other famous rooftop. The Madison is a really nice rooftop bar on top of One New Change, the modern shopping center in The City. It gets very busy during weekdays so make sure you are ready to queue or get there well in advance. If you don’t want to wait but still fancy a view, just for pleasure, you can still access the top of the building. Really nice especially during sunset.

I love The Ship for its super cool atmosphere when the sun is out in London. Located by the river, I’m always amazed at out crowded it can be even though it’s not super convenient to get there. Kiwis and Australians surely know it and they are the ones who know best how to make the most of the weather right?

Colourful decoration, big tables, massive screen during sports events, the best part is the back of the garden with a vintage pink van and mini tropical huts, ideal for private parties.

Tamesis Dock, is that colourful boat you can see by albert embankment, near Big Ben. Of all the places listed here, it’s the most unique one. The boat is big, spacious, colourful, never too busy and offer the best view on Westminster.

There is no better place than the southbank to enjoy the summer vibe in London. Every season, there are new pop ups opening on the southbank. Looking better and better every year, it’s the first place you should check out when the sun is out in Lonon!

An other  lovely one by the water. We’re going more west now, at the Union Tavern. Closer to Notting Hill and Westbourne Park, it’s ideal for a sunny drink after a walk by the canal.

The last one added to the blog. It kind of reminds me of the Tavern Union in a way, except you’ll have to go to the other side of the canal, reaching the Angel and Old Street areat to enjoy that great terrace. The Commissary is a real hidden gem where you can sip a glass of wine sat down on a bench by the canal.
